Contact Categories Overview

The different types of contact categories available and best practices

Contact categories were designed to help organize and easily sort all the different types of contacts you manage for your business. Whether prospective customers, customers, preferred customers, or prospective recruits or hosts, each type of contact in your business Rolodex requires a different level of communication and relationship.

Maven's contact category groups

  • Customer-related
  • Recruiting/team-related
  • Host-related

*Note: You can also mark yourself as "Me" to filter your own orders so you don't receive follow-up prompts for personal purchases

Below we dive into the three business categories as well as best practices.

Customer-Related Contact Categories

  • Customer Prospect: Someone who has indicated an interest in products, but has not made a purchase. An individual who has received a sample is an example of a Customer Prospect. Maven will update this category automatically whenever a new sample is recorded for a contact not previously marked as a Customer and for any new contact added who has no other activity or notes associated.
  • Customer: Someone who has made a purchase from you. Maven will update this category automatically whenever a new order is created.
  • Preferred Customer Prospect: Some businesses have the concept of a "preferred" customer program, where customers receive discounts based on a yearly fee. You can keep track of these potential customers separately.
  • Preferred Customer: This individual is participating in your preferred customer program.
  • Uninterested: This contact is currently not interested in being a customer or being contacted. This selection overrides all other customer selections and will not allow AMI to populate the customer category if this contact makes a purchase while their record indicates Uninterested.

Recruiting/Team-Related Contact Categories

  • Recruit Prospect: A contact you think may be a good recruit, but you have not discussed the possibility with them yet. Or a contact with whom you have discussed and/or are currently discussing joining your team.
  • Team Member: Anyone in your downline.
  • Sponsor: Anyone in your upline.

Host-Related Contact Categories

  • Hostess Prospect: A contact who you think may be a good host, but you have not asked them to host yet. Also, a contact with whom you have discussed hosting a party, but may not have a firm commitment on a date or time for a party.
  • Hostess: A current, in progress, or past party host.
