Merge multiple contacts who are the same person easily
Merging contacts takes at least two distinct contact records and integrates them into one contact record.
Why would you want to merge a contact?
Maybe you have a record for Abby Miller on your phone, but there is also record for an Abigail Ross in the back office. It may not be obvious to others, but Abby and Abigail are the same person; people enter nicknames and there may be previous records of a customer's maiden name.
When Maven detects two contact records that are most likely for the same person (say Abby Miller is a customer in your back office and a contact on your phone and her phone number is the same in both instances), Maven will automatically merge the contacts. However, sometimes Maven may not detect the person is the same. In these cases, as in the Abby Miller and Abigail Ross case, you will need to manually merge contacts.
How to merge contacts
- Navigate to the Contacts tab.
- Find the primary version of the duplicate contacts you wish to merge with the other version(s) of the contact.
- Tap Actions at the top right-hand corner of the Contact screen.
- Tap the Merge option from the menu that appears.
- A search screen will appear with the primary contact’s first name pre-populating the search field, and listed below will be contacts matching the search criteria. *Note: If necessary, you can change the search criteria in the search field.
- Tap on every contact you wish to merge with your primary contact. You can select as many contacts as you would like.
- Tap the Merge button below the list of selected contacts to merge.
- Review the merged fields for the new, merged contact. Scroll to the bottom and tap the Save button to confirm the merge.
The merged contact will...
- Have a combined list of each individual contact's order, sample, and shares history.
- Any open To Dos related to the merged contacts will now reference only the single, merged contact.
- If the multiple contacts were categorized, the "highest ranking" type within each customer category group will be applied to the merged contact. For example, if one customer was a Customer Prospect and the other was a Customer, the resulting, merged contact will be categorized as a Customer.
